This new duo of Guildhall and Birmingham Conservatoire students come to the 1000 Trades for the final leg of their UK autumn tour, with music from their latest self-titled EP. Birmingham Jazz Presents: Larry Bartley Trio + Tony Kofi 7.45pm

This is the new Trio format by top Bass Player Larry; with the addition of Tony Kofi up front. The trio of Bassist/composer Larry Bartley, pianist Bruno Heinen & drummer/percussionist Rod Youngs, made their debut at London’s famous Ronnie Scott’s Club in 2016 & have since performed throughout the UK & Europe. Birmingham Jazz Presents: Clark Tracey Quintet 7.45pm

Now one year old, the latest incarnation of the Clark Tracey Quintet includes some of the most precocious young talent in the UK.  Some locals will recognise the name Elliott Sansom on piano, while bassist James Owston is still a student at BCU.  The horn players, Alex Ridout and Sean Payne, while studying at RAM in London, are making huge waves on the jazz scene.  Clark’s group released their debut CD last year to much critical acclaim. £10/£7.50 members/ £3 students. Tickets via birminghamjazz.co.uk (more on the door)

1000 Trades Presents: The Whiskey Brothers 8pm

The Whiskey Brothers featuring Richard Heath, on vocals and mandolin and Gerry Smith on piano, perform old style acoustic blues with songs from the great American blues tradition as well as their own material. They believe in playing the blues in a simple, authentic and entertaining way, mixing well known classics with lesser known gems.
