1000 Trades: a new era - and takeaway service
UPDATE: WE ARE NOW CLOSED EXCEPT FOR TAKEAWAY FOOD AND DRINKS. ALL DRINKS 20PC OFF INCL. DRAUGHT BEER; ALL FOOD 50PC OFF UNTIL NEW MENU NEXT WEEK. THANK YOU AND STAY SAFE.
May you live in interesting times. In the west, this is sometimes understood as a blessing. To the extent that the phrase really exists at all in Chinese, it is a curse.*
We live in very interesting times. Amazingly, 2020 is more interesting than the batshit madness of 2019. Hold each other close (from a safe distance).
NOW HEAR THIS: We are now offering a takeaway service for alcohol. All draught beer will be available in 2 pint cartons, together with bottles and cans, at 20% off. The list of availability will be updated daily, please check back here.
Our natural wine will also be available with the same 20% discount – please bring your own container.
To lighten the mood, we will be including a sexy 1000 Trades pin badge with every draught carton or 500ml wine (one per transaction, whilst stocks last etc).
Next week we will be joining Uber Eats to offer a full ‘Trader Kitchen’ menu (see here), also available to takeaway. Opening times TBA. This will replace our current Semplicita menu which will finish on Saturday. Thanks to the inestimable Meat and One Veg Blog for a very touching review of that short-lived menu.
As Simon concludes, please don’t lose hope.
We won’t. Even if we close. In which case, we will continue offering our takeaway service. Details of these arrangements will be announced ASAP.
As things stand we are still OPEN. Tables have been spread out and we are taking other extra precautions.
Stay safe, stay strong, love your local.
Thank you everyone and God speed.
*According to that Wikipedia link, there is a Brummie connection – via Joseph Chamberlain – to that difference in west/Chinese understanding. Coming weeks may be a good time to check out 101 other things that Birmingham gave to the world – via our friends at Paradise Circus.
