Wine comes in at the mouth
And love comes in at the eye
    - William Butler Yeats

Poetry and wine, like pen and paper, are two things that just work. This month we bring the two together for an alluring evening of spoken word, worthy only of the finest tastes plucked from the vine.

The name? In Vino Veritas.

Publisher Emma Wright plays host, with readings from some of Birmingham’s most-talented orators. Selected verse from Cynthia Miller, co-director of the Verve Poetry Festival, and Richard O’Brien, editor at the Emma Press, will be interspersed with tutored tastings from Chris Connolly, from local vendor Connolly’s Wine Merchants.

Six wines, each with a reading of 1-2 specially chosen poems, set in the atmospheric upstairs room of our neighbourhood bar in Frederick Street. It’s a one-off event that you won’t want to miss.

In Vino Veritas takes place on Wednesday 25th October. Tickets are on sale at £20/£15 earlybird, available at Eventbrite and at the bar.
