Kamikaze Club – once a month the upstairs turns into comedy club, with your hosts the Kamikaze Club bringing fresh acts looking for a spot, as well as pros looking to polish their material.

Maker Monday – organised in conjunction with Birmingham City University, Maker Monday is a chance for people working in or with an interest in the creative and digital sectors to explore a different theme each month with presentations by experts from the worlds of industry and academia.

Phil Thompson’s Arts Lab – a veritable cavalcade of talent, from music to poetry, performance art to film, are showcased in this monthly hub of artistry, including an open mic spot for anyone tempted to dip their toes

1000 Trades Networking Club – hosted by Ian Gardener, informal networking for established businesses as well as those just starting or looking to start-up with support and practical advice in a relaxed and friendly setting.

Music runs through the heart and soul of 1000 Trades with DJs playing most Fridays and Saturdays as well as many Sunday afternoons on our professional quality Lab Gruppen/RCF set up. Regular favourites include:

NowHam – last Saturday of the month sees our long-running night of credible 80s night take to the decks. Kybosh Kylie and Banish Banarama with a minefield of choice tunes from one of the most underrated decades we can think of.

The Yardbird Sessions – Birmingham’s much-missed jazz and funk bar lives on….Ollie Lloyd brings the funky hybrid sounds of The Yardbird, digging deep into his record collection to create the trademark Yardbird sound of dusty deep funk, Latin, dancefloor jazz and instrumental grooves.

Down Tempo Disco – a musical journey through time and space, with slow funk grooves and disco re-edits building to a sumptuous deep house crescendo.

Pigeonhole – the Birmingham revival night featuring a whole range of music from different genres – some you will know and love, some you may not know yet but will definitely love. Starting slowly, the selection builds up from appreciative and curious head nodding to serious toe tapping and dancing.
